Under the umbrella of the Food Security, the following projects are assisting the countries of this region:

1. Regional Project "Promoting CARICOM/CARIFORUM Food Security"

The FAO Project "Promoting CARICOM/CARIFORUM Food Security". The Project is funded by the Governmentof Italy andimplemented by the FAO. It is a project of the CARIFORUM Regional Special Programme for Food Security (CRSPFS), which falls under the FAO Special Programme for Food Security (SPFS) - the FAO flagship initiative for reaching the goal of halving the number of hungry people in the world by the year 2015.

2. South-South Cooperation

The SSC Programme in the Caribbean with China and Cuba as Cooperating Governments in support of the Regional Programme for Food Security was formulated in mid 2003 and was signed by the cooperating and recipient countries between March 2004 and May 2005. Moreover, TCP projects in support of vertical activities of the RPFS not covered by the Italian funding and the SSC were approved in February and April 2004. The 16 TCPs, which cover the full cost of the SSC both at the national and regional levels.
