Food Price Rises: Facts, Perspectives, Impact and Needed Actions
The world is experiencing a dramatic rise in the price of food. During the first trimester of 2008, nominal international prices of the principle food products reached their highest levels in nearly 50 years, while the effective prices in real terms were the highest in 30 years. FAO is releasing the following document which analyses the phenomena in depth, recommending policies and evaluating the possible consequences.
