As a result of the XXIX Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Caracas, Venezuela, April 2006, seven priority areas were established for the biennium 2006-2007. The definition of these areas took into account the recommendations of the GRULAC meeting which took place in Rome, January 2007, and other specific demands made by groups of countries. A Multidisciplinary Group has been created for each one of these areas within the Regional Office, with the participation of Technical Officers and Consultants.
