Fight against hunger
Food production in Latin America and the Caribbean can easily meet the needs of its entire population. The problem of hunger in the region is not due to a lack of food, but a lack of access for the poorest in the region.
FAO supports its Member Countries by providing information on food prices, studying the causes of hunger and its trends in the region, and encouraging food production with an emphasis on family farming.
The Organization aids in developing policies and strategies for food safety, employment and rural development, and studies trade and regional markets.
