The Regional Commissions are Statutory Bodies created by FAO at the request of member countries and constitute a discussion forum in which participate all FAO member countries of the Region. In these commissions the States may exchange ideas, discuss current issues and share resources with FAO technicians and experts. In Latin America and the Caribbean there are four commissions addressing fishing, livestock and forestry matters. These commissions meet every two years, share a part of FAO’s budget and they have Technical Secretary who is responsible for the operation of this organism.
