Forestry

The forestry programme is an important component of the work at the FAO Regional Office. This forestry programme is based on the FAO Strategic Plan For Forestry at medium and large term (2001-2015), currently under review, and recommendations made by the countries of the Region at the Latin American and Caribbean Forestry Commission (LACFC) and the FAO Regional Conference. The normative activities and the field programme of the forestry plan are complementary, producing a synergy between theory and practice. The activities of the Forestry team include all those taking part in the FAO Strategic Plan For Forestry, outstanding among them the counseling provided to countries on forestry planning and policies through the National Forest Programmes and the technical assistance to forest projects carried out in many countries of the Region. The Regional Office gives also support to four Technical Cooperation Networks and prepare various publications on forestry issues.
